Money, Data, Value & Design
RESEARCH THEME
Our interdisciplinary research on Money, Data, Value & Design explores money as a form of data, and as a material for design. Across multiple projects, we consider how emerging financial technologies – from Open Banking and Pocket-Money Apps, to Blockchains and Gaming Currencies – can shape the way value is exchanged, and the values that money and data can represent. By employing design research and speculative methods in particular, we aim to enable diverse communities and end-users to reflect on and recognise money and valuation as things we could design, which are not simply economic, but fundamentally social concerns.
