Fostering Digital Cultural Participation
Outputs from this project
Forthcoming!
This exploratory project in collaboration with House of Electronic Arts (HEK), Basel and funded by the Inclusive Digital Economy Network +, investigates HEK’s online community and tokenised membership scheme Friends of HEK, a type of decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) that uses blockchain technology combined with a series of other platforms to support shared voting over parts of the HEK’s programme. This research uses a collaborative digital ethnographic approach to understand the lived experience of the community members, the impact of the technology in supporting digital cultural participation, and the role of the institution in mediating access to shared decision making.
This project is related to some of the work we do at DECaDE on blockchain technology.
Collaborators: House of Electronic Arts (HEK), Switzerland.
