Data Visualization & Exploration

RESEARCH THEME

Our research on Data Visualization & Exploration investigates how visualization enables productive and critical forms of data exploration, communication and “thinking through data” across a wide range of domains and environments. We focus on the design and study of data representations at large – including visualization and physicalization – drawing on different representation techniques and modes of engagement. Our research is highly interdisciplinary and explores how visualization can make data analysis more accessible by supporting both experts and novices in understanding, exploring, and communicating complex data.

Working closely with domain experts, we address a range of topic areas, including climate change, digital humanities, peace development, and education.
