Nicole Meng-Schneider
Doctoral Researcher
Nicole Meng-Schneider is an HCI and Privacy researcher interested in contributing to experiences with technology that are not only useful, efficient, and respectful, but also safe. She primarily uses qualitative user research methods, where she includes end-users and their perceptions in the research process, focusing on understanding where technology fails to match user expectations in terms of privacy, trust, and behaviour.
She is currently a post-doctoral research associate on the DECaDE project, which aims to accelerate research in provenance data and trust through working with industry and end-users. Previously, Nicole completed her PhD in HCI and Privacy, exploring privacy implications when sharing smart speakers. In contrast to existing work, her research focuses on the social implications and norms around shared smart speaker use and the effect on perceived comfort.
