Chen Zao is a PhD candidate in Design Informatics. His research focuses on how generative AI is integrated into product designers’ concept development workflows, reshaping the structure and timing of concept development and changing how design information is interpreted and transformed across the process.

Chen holds an MA from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in product design from Beijing University of Technology. He has nearly 10 years of experience in design practice and his PhD research builds on this experience.
