Two new publications exploring AI and creative practices

We are delighted to share two recent publications, reflecting the first two stages of the CREA-TEC BRAID Fellowship, led by Caterina Moruzzi in collaboration with Adobe.

Our recent publication, “Exploring the Impact of AI-powered Creativity Support Tools on Professional Creative Workflows,” presented by Caterina Moruzzi at the 29th ACM SIGCHI Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work & Social Computing (CSCW), delves into the practical realities of AI adoption in creative workflows. This study reveals key successes and challenges faced by professionals as they integrate AI-powered tools into their work, highlighting issues of accessibility, expertise, and creative agency.

Complementing this, our pictorial “Mapping Imaginaries: A Futures Workshop for Creative Practices with Generative AI” from the 2026 Designing Interactive Systems Conference (DIS ’26) covers how we imagine the future of creative practice with AI. By conducting futures workshops with 70 creative professionals, we surfaced nuanced visions of what creative work might look like in 2030, challenging binary narratives and instead revealing a complex tapestry of hopes, fears, and uncertainties.

Launch of Beyond the AI Binary

Building on these findings, we are translating key insights into a chapbook titled “Beyond the AI Binary”, aimed at engaging a broader audience in the conversation about the future of creative practices. To celebrate its launch, we invite you to join us this December for an evening of roundtable discussion, interactive activities, and networking. This event is a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about what responsible AI engagement means for creative communities.

Whether you are a practitioner, researcher, or simply interested in the evolving landscape of creativity and technology, we look forward to welcoming you to this important discussion.
