Liquan was a PhD student in the Institute for Design Informatics, supervised by Maria Wolters and Dave Murray-Rust. His research focused on health informatics and uses human-centric approaches (mixed methods) to design digital artefacts to address problems between patients and health services.

Liquan graduated from his PhD in 2025, and is now in a faculty position at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University.
